Letter of Intent
Dear Internship Coordinator,
At Rider University, I am working to major in Psychology and Education. I want to work with children in a counseling setting. I already have some experience in this field, in high school through community service, as well as Child Development classes. I participated in Peer Leadership where I mentored Underclassmen. In Peer Leadership we taught underclassmen how to be a leader and make the right decisions. I also did “peer evaluations” dealing with social issues and bullying as well as drugs and alcohol. I served as a tutor to Junior’s for their HSPA tests. Not only did I participate in school mentoring but I also volunteered as a camp counselor in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for children ranging from the ages of two and eight years old. While volunteering as a camp counselor, I provided leadership to the children and held responsibility for their actions in camp the camp. I also instructed the children how to play tennis which forced me to use my listening and communication skills. Through these processes I have picked up on many skills; good listening, communication, leadership, and patience. These experiences have molded me into a well-educated individual, obtaining to my future goals.
While reviewing my resume, you will find that I am, determined, socially active, comprehensive, and warm-hearted. I believe that an internship in a psychological or educational field will help expand my horizons and help me put my accomplishments to work. It would be greatly appreciated for you to contact me if you hold interest after reviewing my blog.
Sincerely,
Danielle Peterson

Biography
First, I was born on August 7. From that moment on I lived in South Amboy until seventh grade where my mother and I moved in with my grandparents, in Freehold, NJ. Unfortunately, my mother passed away when I was twelve, leaving me to continue residing with my grandparents today. This left me to basically grow up independently. My grandfather recently had heart surgery and attends dialysis 4 times daily therefore, I act as an aid for him while my grandmother works. I attended Freehold Township High School and I was nominated for Peer Leadership and mentored freshman and sophomores in handling different situations ranging from social issues to school work and time management. I was also a Student Ambassador and tutored juniors for a major state-wide test, HSPA. I have always been a leader and independent. I am very organized and love working with people, especially kids. In fact, I have been baby sitting since I was fourteen and took Child Development courses for two years. I also volunteered at Mirasol Tennis Camp for children. I am currently attending Rider University and studying Psychology and Education.

Academic Experiences
I graduated from Freehold Township High School and I am currently attending Rider University, studying Psychology and Education. Throughout high school, I worked with many groups of people through community service and classes. In my Peer Leadership class we had to learn to socialize and accept different types of people and it taught us how to interact and work together through different ice breakers and projects. At Rider University, I participated in a Speech Communication class where I was expected to give numerous speeches. I also created a few power points through high school and my college experience so far. While attending Rider University so far, I also got to experience Governor Corzine and President Obama's speech, live at PNC Art Center.
Here are some examples of my work:
Reflection on President Obama & Corzine's speech
Research paper on Civil Rights
Persuasive Speech Outline
Research paper on "I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem" & Barbados

My Motivation and What Keeps Me Inspired!
Ever since my mother had passed away when I was in the eighth grade, I became very independent. This is when I began to live with my grandparents. Through the struggle of my mother's death and my father's alcoholism, I had to stay strong and overcome many obstacles on my own. For example, applying to colleges, working, supporting myself, and becoming independent as a young teenager. My motivation is my mother. Although she is not here with me physically to help me through obstacles, I know she would be very proud if she knew how hard I work and how I put my all into everything I do. My grandparents and the rest of my family also keep me motivated because with out them, I have no idea what kind of person I would be or where I would be living. I am very grateful for everything my family has done for me. I enjoy making others happy and giving a helping hand to motivate others. I want the world to keep each other inspired and motivated. Here are a few quotes that I like to live by:
